Nino Calos is one of the pioneers of lumino-kinetic art, embodying the poetic and lyrical branch of this movement. In the 1950s, he was invited to participate in group exhibitions at Iris Clert’s, at the Galerie la Concorde in 1957, at Colette Allendy’s in 1958; in 1960, the Galerie del Cavallino devoted a monographic exhibition to him, followed the next year by the Galerie Pierre Belfond in Paris.
He was particularly interested in the question of the integration of the work of art in architecture, seeking to establish a totally immersive relationship with the viewer but also to abolish any intellectual distance between the latter and the work of art.
